At the annual French Entrepreneurs' Meeting organized by the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF), BIC renewed its commitment to the French Business Climate Pledge alongside 100 leading French companies. BIC was one of the first signatories of this initiative following its creation in December 2017.

With this renewal, BIC has reaffirmed its intent to make a meaningful contribution to fight climate change by defining approaches and developing solutions, products and services that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As a global business in 160 countries, BIC recognizes its responsibility to make a difference worldwide by supporting the fight against climate change. In April 2018, the company announced the launch of its Writing the Future, Together program, which declares five sustainable development goals for BIC to reach by 2025. As part of this initiative, BIC has already achieved 76% renewable energy use across all its sites (against a short-term goal of 80%) and actively supports the transition to a circular economy through actions based on the company’s “4R” philosophy: Reduce, Recycled and alternative materials, Refillable and Recyclable.

BIC has also been recognized for its ongoing sustainability efforts. This year, BIC received a Leadership ranking from CDP, a global authority on carbon emissions. BIC also became a member of the CE100 program, an initiative of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation dedicated to identifying solutions to today’s environmental challenges to support the transition to the circular economy.
