In Italy, bullying and cyberbullying affect school attendance and negatively impact the performance of victimized students. Terre Des Hommes counteracts these circumstances by developing activities that improve children's health and well-being by fighting hunger, malnutrition and combating abuse and violence.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project promotes cultural change to support gender equality and social inclusion, targeting bullying in all forms. The program is intended for secondary and high school students, using a peer education approach that involves students, teachers and parents. The project consists of:
An app and website providing up-to-date information and toolkits that address discrimination and bullying-related matters.
A student-managed web radio network. This part of the program offers students entrepreneurship training, which they use to self-finance the project via a crowdfunding platform.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
“To participate in the presentation of the INDIFESA Dossier last October in Rome was a wonderful experience. Through the webinar we got to know other ways of making radio and understand how to carry on a project together with shared knowledge and ideas. All the radio programs were formed by young speakers and I think that was the strength of the project: Young people speaking to young people! This is key to promote societies that reject gender discrimination, stereotyping and violence.”
